Christian got the Golden Pineapple Award @ Islands for most improved boy at Allendale Elementary. It was good, we both had a thick and juicy bacon cheese with some crispy fries and a coca cola. Man did this guy had questions. I guess he had never been to a restaurant where you get seated and wait on. Or some what of a formal place. He was wondering how we were suppose to get our food. And where we were suppose to take our plates after we were done. It was quite a learning experience for the both of us. It was nice having the manager come out and greet us and congragulate (spll?) Chris for his achievement. The waitress was very nice and kind as well. Too bad for Christian's conversational skills. He kept on looking at his coloring page while the manager and waitress paid him respect. After they left I talked to him about looking people in the eyes when they were talking to him. And shared that its a sign of being respectful. It was good.
I remember my time at Jubilee we got a lot of social training apart from our academics and athelitics. We were taught how to behave at a formal dinner, the different ways to shake hands. How to set a table for dinner, and the different use of silverware. A lot of stuff like that.
A lot of what I do with the guys i'm mentoring is teaching them to be kind and gentle.
