Vatos Locos Por Vidas Ese!!!!!! Y Que????
Yesterday was a good day. Instead of having bible study with my guys, as a bible study group went to accompany my friend and mentor to speak on mentoring youth down in Fullerton. It was good to be able to spend time with my guys outside of the community. We borrowed my friend Johns car and we packed in it and headed down to Fullerton. And of course we had to go at least three hours in advance, as some of you may know driving east on the 210 mid noon is not an easy thing to do. We got there and met Ramiro, his wife and daughter at a starbucks before going over to the church.
The event went well, after I translated for Ramiro as he gave his testimony and some points he believes youth need in order to have a healthy life, we got to discuss some questions with the people present. There was a table with older Mexican women whom as soon as they had the chance invited me to their table. We had a good discussion about what they see in their community. All of them were saying they realize the youth in that area need mentors to walk side to side with them. I was able to encourage them on different areas in their lives. The lady that was sitting next to me started crying at one point. It was after I shared the need to have a personal relationship with Jesus. She shared and was happy to tell us that she accepted Christ a few weeks ago. With tears in her eyes she shared how she realized she had a lot of anger inside towards her stepfather and mom. It was good to be there and to spend time helping Ramiro and having my guys hear me speak publicly (spll?). It was especially good after Fernando one of my young guys got up in front of the crowd and shared what was the most significant about our relationship. It was good.
The four boys I'm currently mentoring right now, hanging out at a starbucks in Fullerton.
