The big argument is that the church wants to reach out street kids but it doesn't want to embrace hip hop. What does that mean. A friend made a comment last sunday during our church service. the comment was that hip hop is saying it doesn't need the church. My take on it is i like hip hop but i won't stand up for it unless it changes the messege that kids are getting and living.
Most of the songs in hip hop w/ a few exceptions talk about how money is the answer to having a good life "bling bling" orale. A lot of it also makes women to be looked as possesions, sex objects. Almost every girl you see in "hip hop" videos are half naked showing half their bootie and breast. This is not right.
Many of our young people are looking at this and trying to live it out. Music affects people in big ways. We connect our feelings to the music we listen to.
I remember being young and listening to snoop dogg and too $hort. Almost, most of what these guys talk about in their lyrics is slapping women around and using them. I was listening to this. I had four girls that i was messing around with and walking around with a cane acting as if i was a pimp

If hip hop changes a lot of their views and starts sending positive messeges to our youth. That would be the day i start standing up for it.
