Quick Update....just in case you missed it.
Greetings from Pasadena, this is a quick update and prayer
request.
I pray you are doing well. Things are going well on my
end. Bible study with the boys is coming along nicely. Last
week I had one of the boys lead the bible study. I’m planning on having each of them
teach a lesson. When we study, we first pray about the
reading, then read and finally go into a discussion about it.
The adulterous woman in John 8 was the most recent story we read.
The boys learned that it's not our job to
judge, but to forgive and be merciful towards others. We
had a good conversation about the meaning of grace and how
the amount of good deeds does not matter; our salvation
depends solely on God's grace. It was good.
Rigo will be teaching the next bible study. The idea
behind having the boys take lead in teaching is to empower them
in the word, as well as sharpen their bible teaching
skills. I want them to be able to look at scripture, read it and
come up with application questions. Please keep us in
prayer as we go through this. This coming week I’m going to telling them that I will be moving to Washington. My prayer is that they will be able to commission me as I make the move.
This past month, I sat down to balance out my finances. It
was then that I realized my need for a part-time job
in order to pay for my basic necessities and a credit card
debt. I'd also like to be able to save a little for the
move back home. Though I will move into my parent's home, I
don't want to be broke or burden them while I job search in
the Tri-cities. However, in order to fit everything in my
schedule, I had to step down as the Retreat House Manager;
which in turn, means having to pay rent ($200 a month); but
as I mentioned with a new job, I should still make it. Your
prayers in my job-hunting would be appreciated.
Here is the low down on the spring break road trip which,
God willing, we will be able to come up with the funding.
The total cost should be about $720: $120 for food, $250
for gas, and $350 for car rental. My prayer is for God to
provide a car through someone in our community. This would
decrease the cost of the trip significantly. As a group we
are having a few car washes in March to help with the
expense.
Those are the news briefs for the moment. Please continue
to pray for my journey in life.
