I got this message from my professor at PCC letting me know how I finished my last semester there. This means I am officially completed my AA:

Hi, Sergio. You had a B going into the exam, so there wasn't much chance of your not passing the course. You got a B on the exam and a B for the semester.

Good luck in your work out there,
Dan

Had a nice weekend. We went to see my nephews last season game and celebrated my dad's birthday with a carne asada and some cheesecake.

Today Sunday we had children's MANNA which is basically church for the kids. We are taking turns telling the story, leading worship and doing an activity with the kids. This is something that we do every sunday.

And now i'm off to bed.

Every other friday is reserved for special events. We are going to be training the student leadership which will be helping during the fiestas de espanol or rather known as VBS. Every other friday evening we have special events. Like movie nights at the park amongst other things. July 22 there is a band called Morgan Hill coming to do a concert at the Con Amigos Park. We are throwing a BBQ and inviting the community to the free concert and free food.

So far so good, we are seriously praying and seeking God considering the possiblity of staying up here. Both Wendy and I have been having our devotions in the morning and praying about God plans for our lives.

Well, gotta go to bed.

This past weekend we went with the ministry team up to Blue Lake, which is near Moses Lake in central WA. We camped for the weekend and had a wonderful time hanging out and rock climbing. The wife couldn't because it was too dangerous. This picture was inside one of the caves we went into.

An apple pie is baking and some costa rican coffee is brewing. I'm celebrating two years of college education by eating pie, drinking coffee and watching the original Casablanca. It feels good to be done.

One more exam tomorrow before I can say I am an Associate Of Arts. In the spring Lord willing I start on my Bachelor of Arts in Business Management. For a long time my desire was to major in Psych but after realizing all the people who major in Psych don't end up doing what they wanted to do initially with that degree I decided to change my major. I'm still going to minor in Psych and perhaps get my masters in counseling later on. Just trying to keep my options open.
Part of the work i'm going to be doing during the summer is learning to manage a coffee stand owned by the ministry I will be working with. I'm excited and can't wait to get up there.

If any of you are faithful in prayer. Talk to the big guy about my health and tell them to send some healing this way. I have a nasty cold and I have a final tomorrow.

Peace

I'm getting ready to leave up north. A week from tomorrow my wife and I start driving north to spend our summer working with The Manna Project. A ministry serving one of the migrant communities in Pasco Washington.

Thursday, June 02, 2005

I flew in yesterday from a 4 day conference revolving around the idea of Kinship. I was invited to talk on the struggles immigrant workers have to deal with when chosing to come after the american dream here in this great nation called los estados unidos.
What I did was contrasted my life to the my parents life and the different cost of the american dream between them and I. During the times I visit with my parents and pray with my mom I have asked my self over and over again why she would worry so mucyh about her future and it dawned on me. She is 66, with some illnesses creeping up, in much financial debt due to not being able to afford health insurance, no retirement fund, and over the 11 years she has worked for the same company she has gone from earning $4.something to earning $7.85 and hour. My dad is in the same boat but earning .20 less an hour.
It hurts to realize where they are at. I was discussing my troubles about this with a Christian friend last night and first response I got was it was ther choice to come here which is what I expected he would say. And I ask myself how to answer to that. The american dream has a different price for everyone.

Gotta run to class more later.
